Subsea group Harkand is to deploy a state of the art vessel off the Shetland Islands after securing a new support deal the North Sea.
The undisclosed contract, which the company would only describe as ‘major’, will see Harkand providing a second dive support vessel for CNR International.
The firm will provide jacket life extension work, inspection services and information risk management scoping for CNRI’s Ninian South platform and Lyell field, 150km north-east of Shetland. It already has the Atlantis support vessel in place for the field.
Modification and upgrade work will be carried out on the Harkand Da Vinci vessel en route to the field from its current base in South Africa to ensure it arrives ready to begin work.
“Harkand has performed extensive and varied subsea scopes over the years for CNR,” said Harkand Europe managing director David Kerr.
“We are delighted to extend our strong relationship with CNRI through the award of this campaign. Having both the Da Vinci and its sister vessel the Atlantis operating in the North Sea will also provide our customers with the level of flexibility that they demand whilst positioning us for the next stage in building our business in the region.”
