Alan Curran has quit his role as chief operating officer with North Sea explorer Iona Energy, it has emerged.
Curran, former managing director at Lundin and boss at Wood Group Engineering, is to leave the Canadian-owned firm in the summer after tendering his regisnation.
The company said he was to take over as chief executive of another North Sea firm, although his new employer’s identity has not been disclosed.

endeavours,” the company said in a statement.
Industry veteran Curran joined Iona two years ago as COO, after two years at Wood Group. He had previously been a director at Maersk and Oryx among other oil groups.
The Canadian firm has four oil developments and a gas field in the North Sea, including stakes east of Shetland and a 15% share in the Huntington field.
Iona said former Nexen MD Phillip Oldham would be joining the company to advise on increasing its North Sea growth, with an announcement on Curran’s replacement to be made ‘in the near future’.
