Law firm Brodies has appointed three new members of staff to strengthen its position in the energy sector.
Former Transocean’s general counsel Tom Hickey will join the company on April 6 to represent the oil and gas side business, while Donna Kelly-Gilmour and Sarah Sleigh, who joined Brodies earlier in March, will support the renewables’ business.
Hickey is expected to contribute with 12 years of experience in global upstream operations with Hess Corporation, prior to his 2013 Transocean role, when he focused primarily on offshore Africa and the Mediterranean drilling.
Kelly-Gilmour, former partner with Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie solicitors, has worked exclusively in the renewables sector since 2007, advising on onshore wind and hydro, solar photovoltaic, and combined heat and power schemes across the UK, including commercial property aspects of the industry.
Practicing Aberdeen lawyer of 14 years, Sleigh joined Brodies from Green Cat Renewables where she was head of in-house legal supporting the consultancy and its landowner and developer clients. She is set to continue to support the consultancy as part of her new role.
“The appointments of these senior lawyers underscores Brodies’ strategic commitment to the energy sector – one of Scotland’s and the UK’s key economic drivers – and further enhances our ability to support our clients’ needs in Scotland, offshore and internationally,” said Bill Drummond, managing partner of Brodies.
