British utility firm SSE has appointed new non-executive director ahead of a planned departure of two members of its board.
Peter Lynas, group finance director with defence contractors BAE Systems, will join the company on July 1, before the SSE AGM later that month, which will see non-executive directors Susan Rice and Thomas Thune Andersen step down.
Following the reshuffle, the SSE board will comprise of the chairman – Lord Smith of Kelvin, five non-executive directors and two executive directors.
“I am delighted that Peter will be joining the board later this year,” Lord Smith said.
“He will bring the experience and insight he has gained as finance director in another UK-listed company and contribute very positively to the work of the board and its committees.”
