Specialists from an Aberdeen maritime firm have helped move a drillship on a 9,000 mile journey to the African coast after moving into the sector.
Experts from Maritime Assurance and Consulting oversaw the complex move of the drilling vessel from its berth in Singapore to Gabon.
The project marked MAC’s first contract in marine warranty surveying as it looks to expand operations into the field.
“The project team was on site for two weeks prior to the float-on, allowing vital work to be done,” said MAC managing director Graeme Reid.
““Weather and sea conditions, in addition to the long and short range forecasts, were assessed before the voyage began and we had a presence on-board the HLV for the duration of the journey between Singapore and Port Gentil in Gabon. It was a successful project from start to finish.”
