A US oil firm is to create 45 new North Sea jobs after an £800,000 investment in its facility in Fife.
National Oilwell Varco secured the regional selective assistance funding from Scottish Enterprise.
The money will enable the Houston-based firm to expand its operations at Glenrothes, creating 37 highly-skilled jobs at the facility.
“NOV is a significant international player in the oil and gas sector and its decision to expand its operations in Scotland is a clear demonstration of our global reach in this area,” said Scottish Enterprise chief executive Lena Wilson.
“Capitalising on our reputation in the sector to develop new inward investment opportunities was one of the key themes of Scotland’s industry-led strategy for the sector.
“This latest announcement pays continued testament to the skills and expertise we’ve built up in the industry over the past 40 years, and we look forward to continuing to work with the company to support its growth ambitions.”
The company, which produces equipment and components for oil and gas drilling and production, which employs 1700 people across Scotland.
Last year it bought Glenrothes engineering sub-contractor Itasco Precision to strengthen its technology presence in the UK.
