Asset integrity firm Wood Group Intetech (WGI) has appointed a new regional manager for the Middle East as part of its global expansion.
Sami Halfawi, former well integrity manager with Weatherford, brings in 40 years of industry experience into WGI, including developing new business projects with the National Oil Company (NOC) Qatar Petroleum.
His appointment is part of the company’s drive to grow its Dubai team to address a series of recent global contract wins.
Alongside Halfawi the firm has also taken on a materials and corrosion expert as well as the first recruit from the company’s new graduate training programme, Abdallah Al Jabery, onto the Middle East team.
Al Jabery, Mechanical Engineering graduate at Manchester University, will undertake a six-month training programme at the company’s UK headquarters in Chester before joining the Dubai team as engineer.
“Wood Group Intetech is at a critical growth point, with our unique approach to well integrity management winning contracts globally,” said Dr Liane Smith, managing director and founder of Wood Group Intetech.
“The Middle East has long been a mainstay of Wood Group Intetech’s business focus and Halfawi’s dual disciplines of business development and well integrity management will allow us to service more companies in this important region.”
