Apache has appointed a new chief financial officer as the firm sets out long-term growth objectives.
Stephen Riney will take on the role as chief financial officer and executive vice president next month.
Mr Riney served as chief financial officer for BP exploration and production, overseeing accounting, business development, planning and commercial operations for the upstream segment.
John Christmann, chief executive officer and president, said: “”We are very excited to welcome Steve to the Apache executive team.
“He brings decades of experience and thoughtful leadership to Apache.”
Mr Riney added: “It is an honor to join Apache, a company I have long admired for its strong operational reputation and its fiscal discipline. I look forward to working with management and serving Apache’s shareholders.”
The news follows the retirement of the firm’s chief executive, Steven Farris.
