The event began in 1969 when a group of dedicated volunteers collaborated to start the conference which was designed to support the offshore energy industry.
The first conference had almost 3,000 attendees, with 112 papers presented, and 368 exhibiting companies.
It now has more than 100,000 attendees, 300 papers presented, and 2,500 exhibiting companies.
