Glacier Energy Services has made a key appointment to its non-destructive testing (NDT) business.
Experienced engineer Alastair Gibbons joins the senior operations team of Glacier’s NDT division Professional Testing Services.
Gibbons, who has 25-years experience in NDT, will lead Glacier’s offering across the oil and gas industry on and offshore.
Professional Testing Services claims to have the largest pool of qualified NDT inspectors in Europe, with extensive experience of operations on energy infrastructure in the UK, Scandinavia and continental Europe, as well as the Far East.
Tom Shields, managing director of Professional Testing Services, said: “Bringing Alastair on board as our advanced inspection services manager is a real coup – he is a renowned expert who brings even greater capability to an already industry-leading team.
“Alastair’s significant experience in the delivery of advanced NDT techniques including phased array, guided wave, ToFD, EMAT, ACFM and eddy current array along with multiple tube inspection techniques is already being passed on to our wider team.”
The business provides NDT services to clients across Glacier Energy Services’ portfolio.
Glacier Energy Services employs 227 people from bases in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Fife and Newcastle, with international operations led from sites in Singapore and the Middle East.
