Engineering firm James Aiken has opened the doors of its new £1million premises in Aberdeen.
After outgrowing its harbour-based office and workshop, the company has cut the ribbon at its new base in the city’s Bridge of Don.
Covering nearly 23,000 sq ft, the larger facility is a blend of office and workshop space, meaning the company can now use overhead cranes, enabling heavier fabrication work.
The business, which is part of the Jasmine Holdings Group, has also invested in a new £200,000 water-jet cutting machine. With the ability to slice through multi-materials at 200mm thick it enables the firm to reduce its level of outsourcing.
The new premises will be the base for more than 30 staff.
Director George Paterson, said: “The sheet metal industry is one of the city’s longest serving sectors. This expansion will significantly increase our ability to meet our client’s growing and often diverse needs and will allow us to embrace new work opportunities that we simply weren’t able to before.”
