This time-lapse shows the Malikai topside at 40 metres high being skidded a distance of 90km into place.
The feat was the world’s highest operation of its kind performed at that scale for the Shell deepwater project.
The topside weighs an estimated 13,800 tonnes which is equivalent to the weight of 14,000 average family cars.
Last month the oil major announced the tension leg platform had been placed together with the hull at Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering’s (MMHE) yard in Malaysia.
The work was carried out by global heavylift specialist ALE.
