Vantage Drilling said its subsidiary will be reducing it headcount at a site in the Gulf of Mexico in a bid to streamline costs.
The company said around 135 employees faced losing their jobs with the first round of cuts already started.
Vantage has written to the Texas Workforce Commission to make the announcement that it had implemented a “mass layoff” which began at the end of Septemebr.
The reduction and consultation period are both expected to last for the rest of the year.
Vantage has a fleet of four jack-up rigs and three ultrdeep water drillships in West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico, Southeast Asia and India.
