British Gas will no longer be operated through its three businesses but will be moved into two new business units, the company has revealed.
The move comes after strategic review was carried out by Centrica last year.
From April this year, two new units will be formed, UK Home and UK Business.
The company said the decision follows a similar structure used in North America.
The units will be operated mainly under the British Gas brand.
Sawrwjit Sambhi will lead the UK Home unit building on almost 15 years of experience in a number of roles with Centrica.
He will report to Mark Hodges, group executive director and chief executive for Energy Supply and Services in UK and Ireland.
Meanwhile Chris Cox will join Centrica from BG Group where he will lead the Exploration and Production.
Iain Conn, Centrica Chief Executive said:“With great brands, products and innovative offerings Centrica is very well-positioned to meet the changing needs of our customers. Repositioning our customer-facing businesses around our principal customer segments is a fundamental and important step.
“We are also focused on giving those customers access to new products and technologies such as HIVE and distributed energy offerings. We are taking steps to increase the efficiency of the company materially, and working to strengthen our E&P business in the face of weak commodity prices. Such changes require strong leadership and I am confident that Sarwjit, Chris and Charles will help us to achieve our full potential”.
