Crew members on an oil vessel in Cromarty Firth are isolating after a colleague who remains on board tested positive for Covid-19.
Oil firm EnQuest confirmed its EnQuest Producer floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) had been placed in quarantine for two weeks.
A worker claimed at least 16 contractors are isolating for a fortnight.
He said concerns were first raised when an asymptomatic crew member found out family members had the virus.
That employee left the vessel and returned home, where they received a test that came back positive.
Tests were then carried out on board EnQuest Producer and one person was found to have the virus.
EnQuest said that although all other crew members’ results were negative, some workers are now isolating as a precaution.
A spokeswoman for EnQuest said: “We can confirm that a worker on our EnQuest Producer vessel has tested positive for Covid-19.
“The remaining crew members have all tested negative for Covid-19.
“The individual and other crew members identified as close contacts are now isolating on the vessel in accordance with EnQuest’s protocols.
“The vessel is berthed at Nigg port and in accordance with port health protocols has been placed in quarantine for a 14-day period from October 5 2020.”
The spokeswoman added: “EnQuest has a robust policy for the management of COVID-19 on all its installations and at its facilities globally.
“The company has engaged with all relevant stakeholders in this instance, including industry and medical organisations.
“The company continues to work with them to ensure its operational response and advice to its workforce is appropriate and commensurate with the prevailing expert advice and level of risk.”
EnQuest Producer is berthed at Nigg Port while a decision is made on whether to redeploy or scrap the vessel.
The FPSO finished producing oil from the Alma and Galia fields earlier this year and sailed to Cromarty Firth last month.
