The Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) already has several projects in the offing, even though it does not officially open until next week, one of its managers said today.
Christopher Pearson, solution centre manager for small pools, OGTC, also said another project was “going to happen next week”.
Mr Pearson, who was speaking at Subsea Expo 2017 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, said a number of schemes were in the “project governance phase”.
He said that involved deciding whether the OGTC would commit resources to developing the technology.
He declined to reveal further details about the projects.
The OGTC had already filled a number of key management posts by mid-September, just two weeks after its chief executive, Colette Cohen, took up her post.
Mr Pearson said the organisation had been engaging with stakeholders ahead of its launch on February 10.
He said people where very “passionate” and “opinionated” about technology and how and when it should be deployed.
The aim of the OGTC is to make the north-east a focal point for oil and gas technology by helping companies develop and deploy new products and processes that can reduce costs.
The transfer of the first £4million of funds from the Aberdeen City Regional Deal with the UK and Scottish governments was announced in November.
