A string of road closures and restrictions will be in place around the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) as a busy gathering of offshore industry experts takes place next week.
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is staging the Offshore Europe Conference and Exhibition next week, with delegates from across the planet expected to attend.
It will run from Tuesday until Friday, but the restrictions will be in place from 8am tomorrow until 10pm on Saturday, September 9.
The area will be busier than usual in the days before and after the event, while the arena is set up and dismantled.
The changes have been laid out to ease traffic flow – though delegates have been encouraged to use public transport or share cars wherever possible.
Congestion should be less problematic compared to previous years, because the £22.3million Diamond Bridge has provided an extra crossing over the River Don, and residents have been encouraged to use it wherever possible.
Aberdeen City Council co-leader, Jenny Laing, stressed the wider benefits of the conference taking place in the north-east.
She said: “Offshore Europe is a great boost for Aberdeen, and we welcome businesses and delegates from all over the world to our city.
“We are looking forward to showcasing the innovative technologies that Aberdeen, as a global energy city, has to offer.
“We do have to put restrictions in place for roads to help traffic flow and we would advise people to avoid the area if possible and find an alternative route.”
Claymore Drive and a section of Exploration Drive will be made one-way during the week, while Conference Road will be closed to most vehicles.
There will be a slew of other changes affecting stretches around Ellon Road.
