Aberdeen-based Granite PR is gearing up to host the largest ever inaugural event in its popular series of international business networking events.
With over 100 people already booked, the first ever Aberdeen-Abu Dhabi/UAE Gateway looks set to be the company’s most dramatic foray into a new marketplace. The lunchtime gathering will take place at Aberdeen’s Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel on October 4 and is being held in association with SAMCO and M3 Marine Innovative Technology.
Granite PR, which is celebrating a decade in business this year, has carved a strong reputation for delivering business events which create opportunities to establish and grow links between Aberdeen and fellow energy hubs. The inaugural Gateway linked Aberdeen with Houston in March 2013 and, since then, a total of 13 events have been held with locations such as Norway and Perth, Western Australia, adding to the annual calendar.
The October occasion, managed by Business Plus Scotland, will be chaired by north-east businesswoman Tracie Watson and will welcome a delegation from Abu Dhabi who will make trip to Aberdeen to speak with their north-east counterparts. Confirmed speakers so far include:
• Laura Stewart, JFD Global
• Alan Green, Petrasco Energy Logistics
• Dr Hadi Fawzy, Scottish Development International
• Sveinung Tysse, SAMCO
• Dhia Hussain, M3 Marine Innovative Technology
• Gill Maguire, Emirates
Commenting on plans for the inaugural Aberdeen-Abu Dhabi/UAE Gateway, supporter Rolv Flaaten said: “One of the things that working in Abu Dhabi for the last 19 years has taught me is that, due to the vast differences in our cultures, Western companies have difficulty approaching, setting up, and succeeding in the MENA region. SAMCO and M3 Marine Innovative Technology believe that the Gateway is an important opportunity to share our own experience to help others alleviate these difficulties.
“We have a great relationship with Scotland and represent many Scottish companies which have developed fruitful partnerships. The Aberdeen-Abu Dhabi/UAE Gateway is our chance to give back, making sure that others have the resources they need to approach UAE/MENA with as little risk as possible.”
He added: “Abu Dhabi/UAE/MENA is abundant in opportunities for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire due to the drive for more effective and efficient solutions within the oil, gas, and energy industries.”
Granite PR founder and MD and Gateway series creator Brett Jackson added: “The early demand for places clearly demonstrates the appetite for knowledge. The chance to explore the wealth of opportunities in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE make them a natural fit with the Gateway series, and we look forward to welcoming local and international delegates to this new event.”
The inaugural Aberdeen-Abu Dhabi/UAE Gateway is supported by ADIPEC, Business Plus Scotland, EIC, Energy Voice, Emirates, Fairytale Events, Invest Aberdeen, JFD Global, M3 Marine Innovative Technology, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, Petrasco Energy Logistics, Rig Control Products, SAMCO, SDI and Traveleads.
