Three people are in the running for the prestigious Dr Mildred Dresselhaus Award, which celebrates the role of women in the energy industry.
It is one of the gongs up for grabs in the latest edition of The Press and Journal Energy Voice Gold Awards, held in association with Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI).
Dr Dresselhaus, who died in 2017, was the first woman institute professor and professor emerita of physics and electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
She is credited with unlocking the secrets of carbon’s molecular structures.
The accolade named in her honour is awarded annually to women, whether they are apprentices or chief executives, making a positive contribution to the energy sector, mentorship and next generation of innovators.
Last year, it was won by Fiona McKie, a project director with energy services giant Wood.
The trio aiming to follow in her foosteps in 2019 are Kerrie Murray of Pryme Group, Sarah Grayston at Wood and Susan Elston of Sodexo.
This year’s ceremony will be held at the Chester Hotel in Aberdeen on Friday September 6, when a new inductee to the ASI-sponsored Hall of Fame will also be announced.
The honour, which last year went to Robin Watson, chief executive of energy services firm Wood, is presented annually to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the Scottish energy sector.
Tickets for the ceremony can be purchased online at www.pandjgoldawards.com, or from Laura Adam via laadam@dctmedia.co.uk or 01382 575308.
