North-east firm Enpro Subsea was crowned company of the year at Subsea UK’s annual awards in Aberdeen last night.
The annual gongs celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals in the UK industry.
Last night’s ceremony took place during Subsea Expo – Europe’s largest subsea-focused exhibition and conference – at P&J Live.
The gala dinner was attended by more than 550 people.
Enpro is based at Westhill, near Aberdeen, and specialises in technology aimed at boosting oil and gas production.
The company – backed by energy industry investor EV Private Equity – was formed in 2011 with five employees.
Its headcount stood at 45 last May, when it unveiled plans to grow its workforce to 70 within two years across operations in Westhill, Houston and Ghana.
Managing director Ian Donald won the outstanding achievement accolade at the 2017 Subsea UK Awards.
This year’s outstanding achievement award went to Tony Trapp, executive chairman of Northumberland-based Osbit, honoured for his contribution to industry.
Osbit designs and builds machinery to support a range of subsea, offshore wind, and oil and gas operations.
Its entrepreneurial chairman co-founded Tyneside firm Soil Machine Dynamics in the 1970s, launched IHC Engineering Business in Stocksfield, Northumberland, in the 1990s and founded Osbit in 2010 with two colleagues.
Bristol-based Rovco picked up Subsea UK’s innovation and technology award, KW Designed Solutions, of Chorley, Lancashire, was named best small company and Etteke Roebroeks, global programme manager, remote operations, for Fugro GB (North), of Aberdeen, scooped the young emerging talent gong.
Subsea UK chief executive Neil Gordon said: “The standard of entries for this year’s awards underlines the depth of leadership, talent, innovation and technology within the country’s subsea industry. We can be rightfully proud of how our industry has emerged from the challenges of recent years.”
