Aberdeen-based oil service firm TWMA is to work with the Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF) in work to set out best practice for dealing with drilling waste, it announced yesterday.
The drilling waste and environmental service company is one of a number advising an OLF-led steering group of operators, which is working to create recognised protocols for handling and treating waste materials associated with drilling operations on the Norwegian continental shelf.
TWMA has also provided samples from its Mongstad facility in Norway and from offshore operations in the UK North Sea, which will be tested independently, with the results shared among the steering group members, plus a dossier of studies, test results and personal accounts and data from a similar process with the UK Government in 2001.
