Aberdeen software consultant Absoft is hoping to boost turnover this year by £2million by launching its first international office, near Stavanger.
The firm has taken offices at the Forus Business Park, near Stavanger Airport, it announced at ONS yesterday.
It says it already has business in the region, accounting for about 8% of its £8.35million 2011-12 turnover, and that the move would help drive its growth strategy in the sector in Scandinavia.
Absoft operations director and head of its energy practice Don Valentine said: “Opening an office in Stavanger was a natural progression for us and we are very pleased to have secured space in a major location for the energy business in Scandinavia.
“Initially we will service the office and business-development work in the region from our expertise pool at our headquarters in Aberdeen, with a view to recruiting in Norway when we achieve our first additional contract wins.
“Given the level of activity still evident throughout the Norwegian sector in tandem with the UK continental shelf, we hope to capitalise on opportunities to assist companies across the sector as they look to enhance their operations and rationalise their systems and performance.”
Absoft’s Stavanger expansion follows its first acquisition earlier this year, of Hexarus Consulting.
It has about 100 staff and is looking to grow that to 175 over three years.
