Repurposing the UK’s natural gas network to take into account future consumption will require major changes for infrastructure, whether it is towards hydrogen or electrons.
Rob Phillips, energy director at Costain, set out some of his thoughts to Ed Reed of Energy Voice recently. The distribution system that we have will require a major upgrade, he said, based on different volumes of the gas but also how to make existing infrastructure leak proof.
Rob expands on some of his thoughts from Energy Voice’s first session in its Tracking Transition series on Hydrogen, which is available to watch on demand now.
The second session looks at “Projects, infrastructure and finance”, on June 17. Following this will be “Policy and COP26” on November 24 and a final session on “Where next” on February 24, 2022.
This Tracking Transition series presented by Energy Voice will dig into the core topics and areas of uncertainty around hydrogen. What is standing in the way – and are you ready to get to grips with the emerging hydrogen economy?
