The addition of an energy festival has been tipped to make Offshore Europe 2013 ‘fun’ by a leading council figure.
Gordon McIntosh, director of enterprise, planning and infrastructure at Aberdeen City Council, highlighted the international interest in the 2013 event and the presence of industry newcomers, including delegations from Greenland, Mozambique and Nova Scotia.
The event will also “without a doubt” bring out announcements of new industry deals and contracts, McIntosh believes.
“[It is] a fantastic year in terms of celebrating Offshore Europe – it’s been full for several months now, that’s one of the reasons we’re looking at future oil and gas exhibitions being in a new exhibition and conference centre,” McIntosh told Energy Voice.
For the first time this year the council will organise an Energy Festival which will follow the main exhibition in the evenings, with jazz music, markets with local produce and street performers.
“There’s going to be lots of fun for everyone in Aberdeen,” he said.
“I think that was an aspiration of many people in Aberdeen, including the local press, including the industry itself and the city council.”
