The next generation of energy professionals have been testing their engineering skills at a special racing competition organised by Shell.
On the final day of the Offshore Europe conference, students from Peterhead Academy, Robert Gordon College and Dalziel High School built and raced saltwater powered cars for a chance to win iPods.
“The idea behind this is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and encouraging the kids to think about that in the stem subjects,” Shell’s Gill Hay told Energy Voice.
“We really hope that this kind of activity helps promote stem subjects: science, technology, engineering and mathematics to young people and consider them as careers in the oil and gas industry.”
