Energy Voice’s Energy Transition Idea Exchange (ETIDEX) event provided a day of thought-provoking discussion on the energy transition yesterday.
Broadcasting from the Aberdeen Science Center, the event played host to industry leaders as they discussed the energy transition through ETIDEX 2022’s three sessions.
Opening remarks and keynote speeches
The event opened with the head of Energy Voice, Ryan Stevenson, addressing those in attendance.
Following the opening remarks, keynote speeches were made by Lord Offord, parliamentary under-secretary of state for Scotland, HM Govt., Ross Moffat, head of strategy at SSE Thermal, and David McEwing, partner at Addleshaw Goddard.
Session 1 – Energy Transition Forum
The first panel of ETIDEX 2022 saw Offshore Energies UK’s director of sustainability, Mike Tholen moderate a discussion on the energy transition.
In addition to the three keynote speakers, the panellists included: Martin Hottass, corporate development director at 3t Energy, Lara McGrath, export finance manager/clean growth export development manager at UK Export Finance and Robert Taylor, business development manager at Stork.
Session 2 – The Hydrogen Hub
This session, entitled ‘The Hydrogen Hub’, looked at the evolution of the hydrogen economy. It picked up on and developed the key themes that surfaced in our highly successful four-part Tracking Transition series on Hydrogen.
This was moderated by Myrtle Dawes and welcomed partner and co-head of power sub-sector at Addleshaw Goddard, Sarah Baillie, commercial director at ITM Power, Tim Calver, vice president, energy transition and innovation development at DNV, Sarah Kimpton and head of hydrogen project engineering at SSE Thermal, Sue Beveridge.
Session 3 – Offshore wind, INTOG & Electrification
Chaired by Energy Voice Europe editor Allister Thomas, the Offshore Wind, Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) and Electrification panel focused on the importance of acting now for the supply chain and meeting vital decarbonisation targets.
The panellists included Andy Brooks, central North Sea area manager at the North Sea Transition Authority, Robert Clark, engineering lead at BV Solutions UK, Sarah Knight development manager (leasing) at the Crown Estate Scotland, and Dr Alexander Quayle, project director for energy transition at Flotation Energy.
