ProSep has been awarded a contract with Shell Canada for its heavy oil venture.
The contract is the largest in the Houston-based company’s history. The scope of work includes the design and packaging of 12 oil treatment vessels to support the Carmon Creek project.
ProSep will initially fabricate the internals for the equipment before the vessels are manufactured in Calgary and Lloydminster.
The equipment will then be delivered to the heavy oil development in Northern Alberta, Canada.
Chief executive Neil Poxon said: “This is the largest contract award in the company’s history and reinforces the great start we have made to 2014. ProSep’s experience and unique approach to oil, gas and water treatment has brought excellent results, especially in increasing recovery rates for clients.”
Shell submitted a regulatory application for Carmon Creek in 2010 before receiving approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator in April 2013.
Carmon Creek is expected to produce 80,000 barrels of bitumen per day using vertical steam drive wells, providing a secure energy source to the region for more than 35 years.
