Scottish-based AEL is poised for international expansion after a successful year in Houston.
A year on from its Houston market entry the firm, which provides electrical products and services, confirmed at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) it would be investing in new premises to accommodate its growing workbook.
The company, which now employs four people at its Houston base, said tumbling oil prices had positioned the firm at the right time and in the right place.
AEL’s operations director Alan Mackie said: “As oil prices continue to fluctuate and operating costs remain under scrutiny, there is an increasing need for reliable, innovative and cost-effective products to help ensure the future viability of the industry.
“For us, however, this creates an opportunity and gives us the chance to showcase the savings we can pass on to the end user.”
AEL announced its move into Houston at last year’s OTC. The expansion was the culmination of a two-year effort to break into the market.
The firm credited Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International for helping it make the the jump.
He added: “The growth of our American division is thanks to our unique position within the market and our ongoing success is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone in the team, both in Houston and around the world.”
The firm hopes to double turnover in the coming year.
