Brazil confirmed 269 blocks located outside its pre-salt area will be auctioned off at the end of this year.
Brazil’s Minister of Mines and Energy, Eduardo Braga, made the announcement at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).
The blocks will be part of the country’s 13th bid round for oil and gas exploration.
Minister Braga said the bid round would be “an opportunity for enterprises to increase their participation in, or enter, the Brazilian market. Mature areas will be offered, as well as new frontiers with great potential”.
Interested and qualified companies can apply without an associated Brazilian partner.
