The threat carried by difficult to detect chemicals that affect asset integrity will be the topic of discussion when corrosion specialist Lux Assure addresses delegates at Offshore Europe next week.
Product line manager, Melanie Reid, will deliver a presentation on deepwater chemical injection at OE’s Deepwater Zone on September 10, at 11.30am.
She will discuss the challenges deepwater production poses to the industry, and the need for production chemicals with thermal stability, reliable viscosity and high levels of cleanliness to cope with high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) environments.
The functionality of corrosion inhibitors, as well as the methodology with which to measure this, will also be discussed.
Reid said: “As the energy industry moves into more hostile HPHT environments, it is important to understand the challenges that these surroundings present and the effect the harsh conditions have on assets, and most importantly, how this can be overcome to ensure the integrity of infrastructure and safe operations.”
Lux Assure currently offers two key products, Comic and Omnica which monitor and manage difficult-to-detect chemicals in hydrocarbons, condensates and water, specifically the thermodynamic hydrate inhibitors and corrosion inhibitors used to protect oilfield assets.
Lux Assure will be on stand 2E95 at SPE Offshore Europe 2015, between September 8-11 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
