A new map has been created to showcase the potential for SolarPV in Ireland.
It was created by La Tene Maps in association with the Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA) earlier this year.
The map is an average solar insulation resource map showing how much sunlight Ireland gets and its distribution.
Currently, the Republic of Ireland has no built utility scale SolarPV insallations.
It has about 50 projects of around 50kW.
La Tene said in the past year the country has witnessed a huge increase in the level of interest in utility scale SolarPV which has been evidenced by the growth in number of grid applications which average about 5MW in size.
The map and poster manufacturer said last year there were zero applications.
However, by November there were more than 390 published grid applications.
