The UK’s main trade body for the oil and gas industry is attending OTC in Houston for the first time in five years.
It’s hoped that new knowledge, new opportunities and new partnerships will come from Oil & Gas UK (OGUK) attending the event.
The trade body said that the trip is aimed at “developing its international relationships”.
Deirdre Michie, chief executive of OGUK, who will be there, said: “This global gathering is an excellent opportunity to represent our member companies, connect with industry partners and gather further information about industry good practice and the international opportunities that exist for the UK supply chain.”
Ms Michie will visit companies on Scottish Development International’s Scottish pavilion, and will join the Global Scots Networking event and business breakfasts as well as attend technical sessions.
The OTC trip comes in the wake of representatives from OGUK sharing the progress that the UK industry has made in terms of increasing efficiency and improving costs – with particular reference to the Oil & Gas UK Efficiency Task Force – as the guest of organisations in South America, Australia and Canada.
“The Houston visit will help inform what we can do to better support our members, nationally and internationally, as well as further raising the profile of Oil & Gas UK on a global platform,” added Ms Michie.
Oil & Gas UK is the leading representative organisation for the UK offshore oil and gas industry. Its membership comprises oil and gas producers and contractor companies.
