“Don’t just tell me – show me” is the leading theme of this year’s international Opito Safety and Competency Conference.
In its fourth year running, the Abu Dhabi-based event will focus on competence in ensuring highest safety management practices across the oil and gas industry.
“This year changes quite dramatically in the fact that we are really focusing on skills, qualifications, development frameworks and that’s in a response to a lot of surveying we did in the industry,” David Doig, Opito group chief executive told Energy Voice.
“There’s a ground swell of movement, of change in the industry … The evidence points to a change from “we’ll train people” to “show us that people are competent to do the tasks, to work safely.””
