Energy Voice has taken a look back through the archives to look at the top stories from each month of 2016.
In January, Norwegian workers were left in shock after the death of a worker on a rig on the Troll field.
Huge waves caused by storms led to the incident on December 30th.
The first month of 2016 also saw the UK Government promising investment for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in a City Region Deal to help support industry outwith oil and gas.
