This week’s most read story on Energy Voice was the news of the decline in Brent for the fifth day in a row before slowly rebounding.
Inventories have written new records for nine weeks now, standing at nearly 490million barrels.
Energy Voice readers also showed interest in Amec Foster’s staff consultation that was expected to lead to a number of job cuts.
The oil services firm, which employs about 3,000 in the region, said it aims to “mitigate the impact” of the fall in oil price through cost cuts but also pledged to relocate staff who will be affected by the move.
Elsewhere, the US confirmed it was aware of a possible plot to attack employees working with oil giant Chevron in Saudi Arabia.
The embassy has “information stating that, as of early March, individuals associated with a terrorist organisation are targeting employees of Chevron in Saudi Arabia,” according to an e-mailed security message for American citizens over the weekend, which did not give further details.
The drop in crude prices also bumped Scotland’s employment outlook down to its lowest level in two years, according to a new survey from recruitment agency Manpower.
At minus 1%, Scotland is the only part of the UK with a negative outlook going into the second quarter.
