Rosneft’s boss said today the firm would obey the Kremlin if Russia’s leaders agree to freeze oil production, a news report said.
Last week, Igor Sechin, chief executive of majority-state-owned Rosneft, said he would not support a cut or a freeze in output.
A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the country was ready to join a proposed cap by Opec members.
But Mr Sechin appears to have changed his tune.
“Rosneft is going to carry out any instructions from the Russian Federation’s Energy Ministry,” Reuters cited Mr Sechin as saying yesterday at a conference in Italy.
