Opec’s secretary general said today that the group is committed to making September’s deal to cut output work, according to a news report.
Doubts have been cast over Opec’s ability to make the agreement stick at a series of meetings scheduled for later this month.
“We as OPEC we remain committed to the Algiers accord that we… put together. All OPEC 14 we remain committed to the implementation,” Mohammed Barkindo said, Reuters reported.
“We have no price objectives… inshallah (God willing) with the implementation of the Algiers accord and cooperation of the non-OPEC member countries, the rebalancing process will be brought forward in 2017.”
He was speaking at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference.
He also said Moscow would honour the deal.
“Russia is on board … . I will not disclose details,” Barkindo said, according to the report.
