The international offshore rig count for May 2017 was up by one on last month, but fell by 27 compared to the same period last year, according to Baker Hughes’ monthly rig count.
The count showed that there were 202 international rigs offshore last month, down from 229 counted in May 2016.
The complete international rig count, which includes land and offshore units, totalled 957, up one from last month and up two on the same period last year.
All regions outside North America are included in the firm’s international total.
The US rig count increased with 893 units counted in May, up from 853 last month.
