Production of oil, NGL and condensate in Norway fell last month, according to preliminary figures released by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
The figures for May showed an average daily production of 1,980,000 barrels per day – which was a drop of 128,000 barrels per day from April.
Total gas sales in the country were 9.3 billion cubic metres – a decrease of 1.2 GSM3 from the previous month.
NPD’s assistant director Kirsti Veggeland said: “The decline in gas sales is as expected, caused by natural fluctuations in the market.”
Average oil production in May was 1,612,000 barrels per day, taking oil production 2.8% above the same period last year, and 1.9% above the NPD’s forecast for the month.
The country also produced 349,000 barrels of NGL and 18,000 barrels of condensate in May.
Total production for the first five months of the year is about 101.9 million cubic metres oil equivalents.
