NORWEGIAN geoscience firm TGS is to carry out a 3D seismic survey over 1,553 square miles west of Shetland.
The survey, being carried out for a number of clients in partnership with Norway-based Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), will see the PGS’ Ramform Viking vessel towing 19,700 feet long survey equipment.
It will be carried out through quarter three of 2011 and again in 2012 with data processing by both TGS and PGS.
“This is TGS’ first investment in a 3D multi-client seismic programme west of the British Isles, located in an area with a number of discoveries and further undiscovered hydrocarbon potential,” said Kjell Trommestad, senior vice president Europe and Russia for TGS.
