Oil giant BP has been suspended from new US Government contracts because of its “lack of business integrity” in the way it handled the Gulf disaster.
BP has already said such a move could force it to rethink its entire operation in the United States.
Two weeks ago, the company agreed to plead guilty to charges involving the deaths of 11 workers on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, which exploded and sank in April 2010, setting off the US’s largest offshore oil spill. It was not clear last night which new or pending contracts the suspension might affect.
