Trinity has come up dry with its El Dorado exploration well offshore the west coast of Trinidad.
The exploration firm spudded the well, located within the PGB license which it operates with a 70% interest, on December 6, 2013 using the WS-152 jackup rig.
The well was testing an undrilled fault block on the west flank of the Trinity-operated Brighton field.
Although a shallow gas sand and marginal thin bedded oil pay were identified, the well is set to be permanently plugged and abandoned as the find is not deemed commercial.
“Trinity is naturally disappointed that the El Dorado well has not yielded a commercial discovery,” said chief executive Monty Pemberton.
“Trinity continues to focus on its infill drilling campaign, delivering first oil at our TGAL-1 discovery in the shortest possible time frame and high grading our exploration portfolio for drilling additional exploration wells at the appropriate time.”
