Engineering group Kentz has landed a $570million (£343.2million) contract for electrical and instrumentation (E&I) construction packages at the Ichthys LNG project in Australia.
The gas field, discovered in 2000 offshore Western Australia, holds an estimated 12.8trillion cubic feet of gas and 527million barrels of condensate, and is expected to produce for more than 40 years.

The new deal brings the total value of contracts Kentz has won on Ichthys close to $1billion, following the award of a structural, mechanical and pipeline (SMP) construction contract in February this year.
The work on both projects is expected to start mid-2014 for a period of 30 months.
The E&I contract has added 14% to the company’s backlog, which stood at $4.1billion in late February following a profitable year.
