French energy industry service group Technip has strengthened its LNG portfolio in China.
The firm landed a contract with Fengzhen Wanjie Gas for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Fengzhen City, Inner Mongolia Province, China.
Technip will manage the basic engineering design (BED) of the process plant and the LNG tank. It will also be responsible for the procurement of various equipment including the main cryogenic heat exchanger, mixed refrigerant compressor, boil-off gas compressor, LNG in-tank pumps, cryogenic control and on-off valves.
The project, due to be completed in 2016, will be executed by the company’s Shanghai, China, and Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia centres.
KK Lim, president of Technip in Asia Pacific, said: “This contract award is another success for us in the growing mid-scale LNG market in China. I am delighted that Technip remains as the contractor of choice while we continue to bring our extensive knowledge in LNG to our clients.”
Last year, the firm landed a $47million engineering deal for a new liquefied natural gas plant in the Shaanxi province of the country.
The firm has also linked-up with engineering group Huanqiu Contracting to establish two new joint ventures aimed at increasing their European and Chinese procurement markets.
