Lundin Petroleum has commenced drilling of the Maligan exploration well offshore Malaysia.
The company said the shallow water prospect is located north of a major producing field to the east of the country.
Block SB307/SB308 will target hydrocarbons in Miocene aged sands.
Earlier today Lundin revealed it would be doubling its production estimate for 2016, while reducing spending.
Lundin said it will take 30 days to drill Maligan using the jack-up West Prospero to a total of 5,577 feet.
