ExxonMobil has said it will plug 22 wells on the Jotun field in the North Sea.
The company said plugging of the wells will take place using a modular drilling rig from April.
The work is expected to be completed during the next year.
The average production from the field in 2014 was around 2,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Earlier this week, Total announced first gas from Laggan-Tormore in the North Sea.
The company has also revealed the start-up from the £3.5billion Laggan-Tormore gas development west of Shetland has paved the way for £690milion of investment in the area over the next 10 years.
