China’s vice premier Zhang Gaoli has called on his country and Russia to accelerate the construction of the Altai gas pipeline linking the two countries.
According to state television, the politician made the rallying call to Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller in Beijing earlier today.
He also said the two countries should expand cooperation in both upstream and downstream, natural gas supply services and energy sales.
Miller said Russia would actively engage in negotiations with China on the Altai project, according to reports in Chinese media.
Russia has previously been pushing for plans to sell China natural gas through the Altai project.
