Maxwell Drummond International (MDI) has gone bust, putting nine people out of work at its Aberdeen office.
MDI, an executive recruitment consultancy to the global energy sector, was placed into provisional liquidation last week.
A spokeswoman for insolvency specialist Begbies Traynor said the “business failure” of MDI was “partly as a result of the downturn in the oil industry”.
The spokeswoman said MDI, which has its corporate headquarters in London, was “unlikely” to be rescued.
The company, which was set up in 1994, had an office at Rubislaw Place in Aberdeen in addition to bases in Calgary, Houston, Rio de Janeiro and Singapore.
Begbies Traynor declined to say how many MDI employees had been affected worldwide.
At one point, MDI had more than 30 staff members in the Granite City.
Kevin Davidson, who joined MDI in Aberdeen in 2001 and became the firm’s last chief executive a decade later, did not respond to a request for comment.
