An Aberdeenshire gas turbine firm has boosted its overseas sales by 42% thanks to a global marketing and communications drive, it said.
Alba Power, a provider of gas and power turbine maintenance services, said export sales as a percentage of total turnover rose from 73% to 82% in the last year.
According to the company’s most recent accounts, the firm’s turnover rose nearly 30% to £16.79million in year to the end of 2014, with sales in the Americas nearly quadrupling to £7.9million, albeit sales in the UK dropped 29% to £4.4million. In that year the company, which is owned by Jersey-registered Netherley Holdings, opened a workshop in North Carolina to meet demand in the market. It also has an office in Houston.
As a result of its success in driving overseas sales, it picked up a gong for export achievement at the 2015 Offshore Achievement Awards.
Michael Johnston, head of sales and business development at Alba Power said it had been working with a marketing firm, Genoa Black. He said: “We are delighted with the international profile we have now achieved and look forward to continued export growth in key regions over the coming years which will be supported by continued investment in people and innovation, underpinned by our World Class Business Initiative”.
