General Electric is to reduce its headcount in Texas by another 360 positions as the decline in oil price continues.
The company said more oil service workers will be reduced in Lufkin, about 120 miles northeast of Houston.
It comes after the firm previously reduced its headcount by around 600 jobs since February last year as it copes with a drop in demand for oil and gas equipment.
A spokeswoman for GE Oil & Gas said it had become clear there was a “lower for longer” environment.
Earlier today, North Atlantic Drilling Limited (NADL) said it faced making up to 300 redundancies once a contract with ExxonMobil comes to an end for a rig in Norway in the next couple of months.
